Jody Slayton

Board Member & Education & Safety Co-Chair

Jody Slayton, Originally from Tennessee, Jody joined the US Army as a Combat Engineer at 18 years old after graduating high school and served four years from 1996 to 2000.  After his term of service was completed, Jody moved to Dallas, TX to start a new career in construction. He worked for Brass and Stainless Designs for 2-1/2 years in their wood division building bars and restaurants all over the world.  In 2002 Jody decided to join The Home Depot and served as an interim Store Manager and Operations Manager for 5-1/2 years.
 
In 2007 Jody was hired by SPEC Building Materials as part of their Manager-in-Training program and worked for two years in their Dallas store.  He was promoted to store manager in 2009 and took control of the Garland, TX store.  One year later the opportunity arose for him to move to Oklahoma and assume the Branch Manager role for the SPEC location in Oklahoma City. Jody served as the manager for 13 years until April 2023 when he moved to an Outside Sales Representative position.
 
Jody is heavily involved in his church as a middle school and high school teacher.  He logs countless hours volunteering with his son's schools; most notably the Deer Creek Marching Band as the Props Committee Chair and serving on the most recent District Wide Bond Committee.
 
Jody and his wife of 25 years, Angela, currently reside in Deer Creek, OK. They have two sons together, Jack and Ben.  Jack is a senior, committed to Oklahoma State, and Ben is an 8th grader. Together they have three dogs, Ty, Tommy, and Cowboy. Jody enjoys woodworking, movies, and travel.
